19+ Bursary Criteria 2026/2027
Some students may be eligible for financial support through our bursary for costs you might encounter as part of your studies such as childcare costs, travel, course equipment etc.
If you have a household income of £35,000 or below you might be eligible.
Information is accurate for 2026-2027 academic year. Household income thresholds and financial support awards may be subject to change.
19+ Learner Support Fund
This fund is for students aged 19+ enrolled on a further education course and in financial hardship. The specific criteria is set annually by the college and is detailed on the 19+ application form/ online system and guidance notes. Assistance with childcare forms a key part of this fund and an additional application form collects details of this to ensure appropriate awards are made. Assistance can also be provided for travel and essential kit/ equipment.
Learners not eligible:
There are certain categories of learners who are not able to claim bursary funding. These are:
- Learners who are considered to be Overseas Learners.Â
- Learners on a Higher Education course (Please refer to HE Moodle page and Policy for further information)
- Apprenticeship LearnersÂ
- Learners on a recreational programme or non-Government funded courses
- Learners who are 19 and over who are studying a level 3 or above course and are not claiming their first level 3 entitlement remission
- Learners aged 19 to 25 who are funded under the 16-19 Bursary Fund.Â
- Learners with an approved Advanced learner Loan as you can apply for the Advanced Learner Loan Bursary.Â
- Learners who have been declined an Advanced Learner Loan.
