Travel Support Scheme for 16-18 Full Time Learners
If you plan to travel to North Devon College by bus, we can provide information about bus passes and routes to help you on your journey.
Travel Pass Scheme
Introduction
To support you in travelling to College, we offer a Travel Pass Scheme. All full time 16-18 learners who live more than 3 miles from College can access subsided travel passes for buses and/or trains regardless of household income. We have also made further investment to be able to offer additional support towards your travel cost for households with an income below £50k per year. This means that travelling to North Devon College might cost much less than you think (and will be completely free of charge for some households).
If you would like to apply for transport, regardless of if you intend to seek financial assistance for your travel costs through the bursary, please click here.
Ensure that you complete the application process in full and confirm within the travel eligibility question that you wish to apply for a bus or train pass. To proceed with your application, you will need to upload income or benefit evidence for your household to your PayMyStudent portal, as guided during the bursary and travel application process.
Who is eligible for the North Devon College Travel Pass?
You are eligible for the North Devon College subsidised Travel Scheme if:
You will be over 16 and under 19 on the 1st September
You will be studying on a full time course
You live more than 3 miles from North Devon College

Devon County Council (DCC) Taxi Travel – Learners with a Disability or Support Need
If you are aged 16–18, studying a full-time course and require taxi transport on medical grounds, Devon County Council may be able to support your travel to college. It is essential that you apply both to the Devon County Council Post-16 Transport Team and to North Devon College (via either the bursary or self-funded route above).
If your application is approved, Devon County Council (DCC) will provide a Post-16 Transport Payment Form for 2026. If you intend to apply to the bursary for financial assistance with your travel costs, please ensure you email this form to: guidancecentre@ndc.ac.uk.
For Cornwall Travel, all applications and any required payments must be made through the Cornwall Council’s application process by 27 July 2026 to ensure travel arrangements are in place for the start of the academic year.
If you intend to apply to the bursary for financial assistance with your travel costs, there is an option within the Cornwall Council application to indicate that North Devon College will be covering the cost of the ticket via the bursary. Please ensure your bursary application is submitted as early as possible to allow North Devon College sufficient time to arrange payment before the 27 July 2026 deadline.
