North Devon College Celebrate A Level and Vocational Results

T Level students outperform national figures as A Level, T Level and vocational learners celebrate their achievements

There were celebrations across North Devon College today as learners received their A Level, T Level and other Level 3 results, marking the next step in their education and careers.

North Devon College students achieved exceptionally strong T Level results, with an overall pass rate of 96.77%, compared with 92.6% nationally, and three North Devon College students achieved the very highest Distinction* T Level grade – an achievement secured by only 74 students nationally.

The college also significantly outperformed the national picture at the highest grades, with 34.41% of North Devon College T Level students achieving the highest possible Distinction* or Distinction grades, compared with 18.1% nationally*.

Individual T Level subject areas also celebrated exceptional results. 71% of Education and Childcare T Level students achieved a D*D grade, while more than half of Design, Surveying and Planning and Animal Care T Level students achieved D*D.

A Level students also celebrated strong results and secured amazing university places, with the vast majority of learners securing their first choice offers. Of the college’s 18 A Level subjects, three achieved a flawless 100% pass rate.

For the first time, the college invited all Level 3 learners to celebrate their achievements together, creating a vibrant Results Day event with teachers and staff.

The results provide a strong foundation for the year ahead, which will see North Devon College further develop its Level 3 offer, including the launch of new A Level programmes, providing even more opportunities for young people across North Devon.

“It has been a privilege to see the celebrations at North Devon College today, marking about eight months since the merger happened on 5th January 2026. 

These results and the extensive investment programme into the North Devon College estate, when combined with the passion of our students and the talent of staff, create an excellent foundation for the rollout of a range of new innovations and enhancements for the next academic year.  I would like to thank and congratulate both students and staff, who have embraced the return of North Devon College with real enthusiasm.“

It has been wonderful to see everyone celebrating today, and I’m really looking forward to welcoming our new and returning students for our first full year as North Devon College.”

Behind the headline results are hundreds of individual success stories, with learners now progressing to leading universities, employment, apprenticeships and further study.

A Level student Edward achieved an A* in Biology and As in Chemistry, Geography and Maths and is progressing to the University of Oxford to study Biology.

Edward said: “I made new friends at college, became a student ambassador and got involved in lots of things outside the classroom, including Earth Sciences, Sea Cadets and swimming. I’m part excited and part nervous about what’s next, which is heading to the University of Oxford to study Biology.”

T Level Education & Childcare student Abigail May achieved a Distinction and has secured a highly competitive place at Norland Nanny Training and Employment Agency to continue her studies and pursue her ambition of becoming a professional nanny.

Abigail said: “Doing this course made me realise I have a real passion for childcare and confirmed that this is what I want to do as a career. I’m so thankful for the support I received at college, particularly from my tutor and lecturers, who gave me the confidence to aim for this opportunity. I’m excited and nervous about what comes next, but I can’t wait to start at Norland.”

A Level student Daniel achieved an A* in Maths and As in Physics and Chemistry and is progressing to the University of Exeter to study Maths.

Daniel said: “I’ve made great friends during my time at college and my Physics teacher Dave Waters was brilliant! I’m now progressing to the University of Exeter to study Maths and I’m looking forward to what comes next.”

Business T Level student Tegan achieved a Distinction and has secured a contract with Torridge District Council, where she completed her industry placement as part of her T Level.

Tegan said: “The trip to Budapest was a real highlight for me and the teachers were incredible; they helped me get to a better level. My placement at Torridge District Council was another great experience and I now have a contract working there. I would definitely recommend a T Level. I feel like I’m ahead of my peers because I’ve already completed more than 300 hours in the workplace.”

A Level student Phebe achieved A*s in Environmental Science and her EPQ, and As in Biology and Geography.

Phebe said: “I’ve had a really positive experience at NDC. My A Levels were all really interesting and my teachers were lovely. It’s a great place to study Environmental Science because of the environment around us and where we’re based. I’m also really glad I chose to do the EPQ, as it developed my essay-writing skills and prepared me really well for my next steps.”

This year’s Results Day comes at an exciting time for North Devon College, which became part of the Exeter and North Devon Colleges Group in January.

Ian Roome MP, who joined students and staff at North Devon College for Results Day, said:

“I was delighted to join North Devon College for Results Day and see first-hand the achievements of the Class of 2026.

It was fantastic to see so many students celebrating the results of their hard work and looking ahead to their next steps, whether that is further study, employment, an apprenticeship or another exciting opportunity.

My congratulations to all the students on their achievements, and to the staff, families and everyone at North Devon College who have supported them along the way.”

September will mark the first full academic year under the North Devon College identity, with new and returning learners set to benefit from significant investment across the campus.

Students will see a new enrichment offer, including the launch of a North Devon Reach Academy, new social spaces, enhanced facilities, and continued investment in teaching and learning environments – all part of the college’s commitment to providing an outstanding student experience and creating the best possible environment in which learners can succeed.
