Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma

If you love making, designing and experimenting with visual ideas, this two-year Art, Design & Communication course may be for you. Working in dedicated studios, you will explore materials, techniques and creative processes across four pathways: Fashion & Textiles, Fine Art & Photography, Graphics & Illustration, and 3D & Craft.

This practical course focuses on developing ideas through making, experimentation and creative problemsolving. You will work across traditional and digital processes, respond to creative briefs, research artists and designers and develop your own creative style. As you progress, you’ll specialise in the areas that interest you most and build a portfolio reflecting your future ambitions.

On this course you will:
– Fashion & Textiles – Explore garment design, textile manipulation, pattern, print, sustainable fashion and contemporary design, developing your skills through practical experimentation
– Fine Art & Photography – Develop ideas through drawing, painting, photography, installation and mixed media, while building skills in composition, image editing and contemporary fine art practice.
– Graphics & Illustration – Develop skills in typography, layout, branding, illustration, imagemaking and digital design, creating work for different audiences and creative briefs
– 3D & Craft – Experiment with materials and processes to create three-dimensional, sculptural and craft-based work, exploring form, structure, surface and construction.
– You’ll have opportunities to combine disciplines, giving you the freedom to experiment, develop a broad range of skills and establish your own creative identity
– In Year One, you will study the Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design & Communication, exploring the creative process and responding to a set brief. In Year Two, you will progress to the Extended Diploma, developing specialist technical skills and producing a specialist creative outcome
– Industry opportunities can include live briefs, public exhibitions, workshops, visiting artist talks and national competitions. Gallery visits and trips to exhibitions will also introduce you to professional creative practice and new influences
